Living Room Electrical Fire
An electrical malfunction was the cause of this bad fire. The contents were inventoried, removed and disposed of. The walls, floors and ceiling were damaged from the fire and the water from the fire hoses. They were removed and the structure was dried down and sealed for smoke odors.
What To Expect:
When we visit your home after a fire loss, we will scope the affected areas to determine the extent of the loss. We will always pretest affected surfaces to determine the type of smoke and which products will help us recover the area most effectively. We have the equipment, expertise, and experience to restore your fire and smoke damage.
Smoke and soot facts:
- Hot smoke migrates to cooler areas and upper levels of a structure.
- Smoke flows around plumbing systems, seeping through the holes used by pipes to go from floor to floor.
- The type of smoke may greatly affect the restoration process.
Different Types of Smoke
There are two different types of smoke–wet and dry. As a result, there are different types of soot residue after a fire. Before restoration begins, SERVPRO of Malden/Melrose will test the soot to determine which type of smoke damage occurred. The cleaning procedures will then be based on the information identified during pretesting.
